Eagles have TEN to receive Conference Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa.—Eastern University Men’s Soccer had 10 players named to the Freedom Conference First Team, Second Team or Honorable Mention lists on Tuesday. Senior forward Eric Giovagnoli earned Freedom Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors and Eagles’ head coach Mark Wagner earned Freedom Conference Coach of the Year status. Giovagnoli and Wagner have now won those awards in back-to-back seasons. Wagner has five lifetime coach of the year recognitions as head coach of the Eagles.
Through 18 games played so far, Eric Giovagnoli leads the 15-3 Eagles with 34 points on 14 goals and six assists. Giovagnoli is joined on the Freedom Conference First Team by midfielders Ben Barnhart and JD Saracco as well as senior defender Jair Saenz.
The Eagles placed three players on the Freedom Second Team. Junior defender John Remsberg made the squad for the second year in a row and was joined by freshman midfield Jadon Ramsing and sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Stratton. Stratton, in 11 games played this season has only allowed four goals.
Junior forward Josh Cirocco and defenders Nate Roberts and Xavier Young received an honorable mention.
Eastern Men’s Soccer won the Freedom Conference Semifinal game 3-0 against FDU-Florham shortly after the awards were released. The Eagles will host King’s College in the Freedom Conference Championship at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
