Game 13: Eagles v. FDU Florham

MADISON, N.J.--Eastern Men's Soccer had its playoff aspirations dashed Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 road loss to the FDU-Florham Devils.


The Eagles, 7-5-1 overall and 2-4 in the Freedom Conference, have been eliminated from playoff contention with one conference game remaining. The Devils improved to 8-10 and 3-3 in the Freedom Conference, remaining in playoff contention.

The Eagles and Devils battled through a scoreless first half with Eastern outshooting FDU-Florham six to five. Eastern put two of those shots on goal, while FDU-Florham forced Eastern keeper Kyle Nichols to make four first-half saves.

The Devils took the lead 1:52 after halftime with senior Josh Corpuz heading in a long kick by goalie Andrew D'Angelo.

Eastern responded in the 49th minute with Jair Saenz finding Mitch Osterhouse for his fourth goal this season.

In the 77th minute, Devils' Josh Corpuz scored again to take the lead.

Eastern was unable to score in the remaining 13 minutes, falling by a final of 2-1.

The Eagles finish up their season with a non-conference game against PSU-Abington at home on Monday and a conference game at home Saturday vs. Delaware Valley College.
