Game 1: Eastern v. NYU-Poly

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern University Men's Soccer earned its first win of the season, defeating NYU-Poly 2-0 on Friday afternoon in game one of the Eagle Road Classic.

Eastern University and Cabrini College are co-hosting this weekend's tournament, but the neighboring-rivals will not be playing each other this tournament.
The Eagles took the tournament opener thanks to two second half goals, both of which were assisted by first-year Eric Giovagnoli.
In the 55th minute, after a shot by Benjamin Barnhart was blocked in front the net, Giovagnoli took the rebound toward the end line and crossed it back in front of the goal, finding a charging Mitch Osterhouse for the finish.
The Eagles doubled their score on the cusp of the 70th minute. Eagles goalie Kyle Nichols punted a ball past midfield that Eastern freshman Hunter Rosenberg tipped into the air to Giovagnoli. Rosenberg spun past his defender, received the feed back from Giovagnoli and challenged NYU-Poly goalie Brendan Finn. Rosenberg then scored his first collegiate goal, sliding the ball past Finn and just inside the right post. The Eagles controlled possession for most of the second half. They took 21 shots in the game, 14 of which came in the second half.  The Eagles complete the Eagle Road Classic Saturday at 2 p.m. against Wesley College.
